BELMONT FARM HOUSE – DURHAM, UK

History:

No history available.

A nice little find right next to a quiet road, looks to have been derelict for some time, but still some great features left !  The original fireplace looks cool and you can still see the details on the metal surround, however the sofa has seen better days, upstairs there are 2 small bedrooms with great views across grassland, a few chairs have been left and you can still see an original stone fireplace in the wall.  A great find and enjoyable explore.

  2. Beautifully haunting! If you are in the Teesdale / North Yorkshire area try finding Holgate Farm on Holgate moor (quite close to Newsham Village) It was a village, then a farm that is now completely derelict in the middle of the moors. My grandad used to live there.

  3. Robert Snowball was murdered here by a person unknown on 1st January 1880. Others in the house at the time were his aged father and the housekeeper, Jane Barron. She is the most likely suspect, but garbled witness accounts and poor police procedures led to her being acquitted at her trial. The murder occurred in the workshop over the byre.
